Carl Rakich is a 50+ entrepreneur who, after graduating from college with a BA Degree in English, spent several years as a high school teacher and coach before taking the plunge and starting his first small business, a local trophy and awards company in Akron, Ohio.

After selling the awards company in the late 1970’s, Carl began a successful sales career in the pharmaceutical industry, calling on doctors and major hospitals throughout Ohio and Western PA. In addition, he and his wife, Jean, owned and operated a floral and gift shop, in the Akron area, for over 10 years.

For fifteen years, Carl held executive positions with an industry leading national franchise company in the home services industry. Moving from Director of Operations to Executive Vice President, he ultimately became the President and an equity owner of the national organization, which includes 40 franchised locations in 20 states. The company was sold to private investors in May, 2007.

An avid baseball fan and former college player, Carl has played and managed the Akron Blues, perennial champions in the local Roy Hobbs Men’s Senior hardball league, in Akron, for the past eighteen season’s – with no end in sight! It’s this competitive nature combined with over 30 years of hands-on business experience, plus his love of teaching, training and mentoring that have led Carl to his current commitment to coaching – especially those 50+ individuals in transition who are looking to start, manage and grow their own businesses.

Carl and his wife, Jean, live in Medina, Ohio. They have two lovely daughters, Melinda, 31, who is a graphic designer living in Ashburn, VA, and Krista, 21, who is a senior at the University of Toledo, studying Forensic Science. Melinda and her husband, Pat, made Carl and Jean proud grandparents for the first time in September, 2006, with the birth of their son, Max.

Education & Training

• B.A. Degree in Education with a Major in English from
The University of Akron, Akron, Ohio.

• Completed 45 hours of graduate work in U.S. History.

• Graduate of Leadership Akron.

• Completed several sales and management courses in the pharmaceutical industry and as a member of the International Franchise Association.

• Developed, implemented and taught sales, marketing and management training programs over a fifteen-year career as a Franchisor.

• Authorized Virtual Incubator Business Startup and Business Booster Coach.
